Here is a brief update of where we are in the journey to the Tournament of Roses. As of today November 28, 2018, we are just over 1/2 of the way there in deposits and pledges. Thanks to Amador, Arrowhead, Auburn, Dolores, Excelsior, Fairfax, Gabilan, Georgetown, Guadalupe, Ione, National, Presidio, Ramona, Santa Cruz, Santa Lucia, Silver Star, Sunset, Stockton, and Washington parlors for donating so quickly toward this spectacular parade and the Native Sons reentry to it. Thank you to the Grand Parlor Board for supporting this.
As stated previously this was a late entry so there was no official budget, which is why it is being done the hard way. Since the entry is a piggy back on another group, much of the preliminary and entry format was already set. A few people have called or visited the Tournament of Roses office in Pasadena and have been informed first hand that all systems are go for Native Sons of the Golden West which will be included in banners, program write-ups, and other publicity events.
The cast is set and keeping in the spirit of the entry, all Native Sons participants will be in period attire of the day with regalia and all of the members of the Gold Rush Fire Brigade will be in their black and red fireman’s attire. The better we do this year, the more it increases the opportunities for future years.
